Leo Adank, Thesus

After finishing the education for ‘Illustrating and advertising’ Leo
Adank started in 1987 as a technical illustrator. In the nineties he developed
himself from an illustrator into a document designer/ illustrator in the area
of user manuals and quick reference guides for professional appliances. In 1998
he started his own agency for visual instructions, technical illustration &
animations and electronic documentation, Thesus Talking Image, located in the
most industrial area of the Netherlands, Eindhoven. From 1998 he also started
to develop and create visual manuals for consumer and professional products.
Leo Adank is member of
TC-associations like STIC (NL), Tekom (D) and STC (USA) and former board member
of STIC, TC Europe and INTECOM.

Dr. Martin Böcker,
Siemens Industrial Solutions & Services
Dr. Böcker studied
Psychology and Linguistics at the Technical University in West-Berlin and at
Exeter University, England. After working for SEL Alcatel and the
Heinrich-Hertz-Institute in Berlin working on user interfaces for
telecommunications systems, he joined Siemens ICM in 1997 where he became head
of the Siemens ICM Competence Center for User Interfaces and User Guides
in 2002. From 2005 onwards, Dr. Böcker was responsible for software and
hardware product innovations at BenQ Mobile in Munich. In 2007, Dr. Böcker
re-joined Siemens AG where his is now head of documentation of Industrial
Solutions and Services, Infrastructure and Logistics.

Jürgen is responsible for the Technical Communication programme at
Karlsruhe University of Applied Science. Before, he worked as a consultant,
specialised in standardisation concepts. Together with Prof. Robert
Schäflein-Armbruster he developed the standardisation and structuring method
named “Funktionsdesign”. He has been active in tekom for many years and is a
renowned expert for document structuring. Since January 2008 he is President of
tekom.

Marco Pierani, Altroconsumo
Marco Pierani is Chief of the Public
Affairs Office of Altroconsumo.
After few
years spent working as lawyer mainly on Internet law, e-commerce, and telecommunication;
in 2002 Marco Pierani joined Altroconsumo - www.altroconsumo.it – the Italian most
representative consumers association, following in particular Telecommunication, Internet
and Intellectual Property related issues, as well as other Utilities Sectors (Energy, Transport, Postal
services, etc). From 2007,
he is Chief of the Public Affairs Office at Altroconsumo. He maintains contacts
with Regulatory Authorities, Italian and European competent administrations,
and with operators. In representing consumers’ interests at Parliamentary and
Governmental level he participates in hearings and constantly intervenes in
conferences and round tables. Mr Pierani is member of the Working Group on competition issues of the European
Consumer Consultative Group - DG SANCO European Commission as well as of the
Special Commission on Intellectual Property and New Technologies at the Italian
Ministry of Culture. He is also member
of the Editorial Committee of the quarterly review Consumatori, Diritti e Mercato. Marco
graduated in Law at the University of Bologna and holds an LL.M. in European
Business Law from the University of Nijmegen (NL). He is author of numerous
articles on the topic of Internet, e-commerce, telecommunication and
consumers protection. He is Member of Circolo dei Giuristi
Telematici and On-line Mediator
at Risolvionline of the Milan Chambre of Arbitration.
